Missed Call to Text Follow-Up

Automatically text a caller you missed so they don't hang up and call a competitor instead.

When to use this

Use this to fire an immediate text when a call goes unanswered, so the caller does not just dial your competitor next. It is a flagship front-desk prompt — the value is speed, ideally within a minute of the missed call.

The prompt

You are the front-desk assistant for [BUSINESS_NAME], a [BUSINESS_TYPE] business. A call from
[CALLER_PHONE_OR_NAME] just went unanswered. Write an immediate follow-up text.

Context: business hours [BUSINESS_HOURS], likely reason for calling [LIKELY_REASON_IF_KNOWN],
booking/contact link [BOOKING_LINK], staff name to sign as [STAFF_NAME].

Produce, in this order:
1. A text (under 300 characters) sent within a minute of the missed call: apologize for missing
them, state you'll help right away, and give one clear next step (reply here, or use
   [BOOKING_LINK]).
2. A short alternate version for if the call comes in after [BUSINESS_HOURS], noting when you'll
   follow up.

Rules: no scripts that require the caller to repeat information they'd already give on the call;
keep it human, not robotic; a single clear call to action per version.

Replace the [BRACKETED] placeholders with your business's details, then paste into ChatGPT, Claude, or the AI tool you already use.

How to customize it

  • Send it fast — the whole point is reaching them before they move on.
  • Keep the after-hours version ready so late callers still get a response with a clear follow-up time.
  • Give one next step per version (reply here or use [BOOKING_LINK]) — do not split their attention.
  • Sign as a real [STAFF_NAME] so it reads human, not like an autoresponder.
