Cold Lead Reactivation

Re-open a conversation with a lead that went cold, with a low-pressure reason to reconnect.

When to use this

Use this to reopen a conversation with a lead that went quiet months ago, when something has genuinely changed on your end worth mentioning. It is a flagship prompt that works across service, real estate, logistics, rentals, and manufacturing — swap in your business type.

The prompt

You are the sales assistant for [BUSINESS_NAME], a [BUSINESS_TYPE] business. Write a reactivation
message to a lead that went cold [MONTHS_SINCE_LAST_CONTACT] months ago.

Lead details: [LEAD_NAME_OR_COMPANY], what they originally inquired about
[ORIGINAL_INQUIRY], what's changed since then [WHATS_NEW: e.g. new capability, pricing, capacity,
inventory], scheduling/booking link [SCHEDULING_LINK], rep name [REP_NAME].

Produce, in this order:
1. An email (under 130 words) that references [ORIGINAL_INQUIRY] specifically, leads with
[WHATS_NEW] as the reason for reaching out now, and asks a low-pressure question rather than
   pushing straight to a pitch.
2. A one-line SMS/LinkedIn alternative for a second channel.

Rules: no guilt or high-pressure language about the time that's passed; make it easy to say "not
right now" without friction; anchor the message in something genuinely new ([WHATS_NEW]), not just
a check-in for its own sake.

Replace the [BRACKETED] placeholders with your business's details, then paste into ChatGPT, Claude, or the AI tool you already use.

How to customize it

  • Anchor the message in a real [WHATS_NEW] (capacity, pricing, capability) — a bare check-in gets ignored.
  • Reference [ORIGINAL_INQUIRY] specifically so it does not read as a mass blast.
  • Keep it easy to say 'not right now' — the prompt avoids guilt about the time that has passed.
  • Use the SMS or LinkedIn line as a second channel if email gets no response.
